App for a custom website using WordPress

Hey, I am new to Android App Development and am currently working and trying to develop an application for a comanpy (letschangehyderabad.com), that would do the following functionality..

log into a website(http://www.letschangehyderbad.com) via the app
after logging in, it should provide the functionality to post any view/suggestion/comment to that website based on the same options that one would get if they logged into the website via the internet browser from a desktop/laptop.

So I was wondering firstly is it possible to develop such a new custom app (changeHyd) which would require it to connect to the website and then after logging in, do the same features as mentioned above

if yes.. could somebody guide me with some technical help on how to proceed….

Basic stuff that needs to be done

    • Post a Comment
    • Take a Picture and then upload it with a certain description.

    example – http://www.letschangehyderabad.com/add-a-post-2/

This app will then be hosted on the website for the different users to download it on to their phone .

There is apparently a bunch to know about this. I believe you made various good points in features also.

Hi dev crew, first I would like to say thanks all of you. And now, why I’m writing this ‘post’, I’m quite interested in translation this great app to Czech language.

I don’t know exactly when Dan is going to release the localization build of the app, but you may want to have a look at the “Localization” trac over here: http://android.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/35
You can download the most recent english language file (http://android.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/35/values.zip). In this archive you’ll find two directories. The “values” directory is the english one, the “values-de” dir is the one with the german translation done by me. The code is going to change a lot in the future (so there will be need for updates of the language files) but I think for the initial release of the localization feature it’ll be good to have as much languages as we can.
Just a little sidenote: I’m not the main developer, so I can’t say anything about release dates/future plans. I’m just developing a bit, because I like the idea of OpenSource. There’ll be an online translation tool in the future, but I can’t say anything about dates.
Feel free to translate it (and upload it to the linked trac again :)), thank you in advance for your help!

Thank a lot for quick respond. Right now, I’m at work, but immediately I’ll come home, I’ll sit behind my notebook and try to do my best!
I hope, I can count with your help with potential upload to trac… never do it before!
I understood that development just begin… so I’m ready to help with future translating of course. Or better to keep cs translation up to date

@Gwolle – please check the latest SVN build, there’s a few more strings added around pages and comment notifications that need a german translation.
